Role Overview: Green Chimneys is seeking Lifeguards for the indoor pool at our Brewster, NY campus. This position is considered “Per Diem”, which leaves YOU with a highly flexible schedule, to make your own hours. This position offers continued trainings through mandatory in-services, where you will brush up on your lifeguarding skills, so you are ready for any aquatic event that may take place. Lifeguards have multiple positions to move to, such as WSI or Senior Lifeguard.

Basic Responsibilities of a Lifeguard:
• Explain and enforce rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of patrons.
• Monitor designated areas to recognize signs of danger
• Warn swimmers in regards to unsafe situations
• Maintain order in swimming areas
• Perform first aid procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and order of all pool areas
• Maintain patron logs (i.e. first aid log, patron attendance, etc.)
• Respond to emergencies and rescue swimmers in danger of drowning
• Inspect the facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor
• Other duties as specified by supervisor
 
What you bring to Green Chimneys:
• 0-2 years of lifeguarding experience OR have the ability to get certified at Green Chimneys (employment dependent on completion of course)
• Be at least 16 years of age
• American Red Cross [or equivalent] First Aid & CPR certification
• American Red Cross [or equivalent] Lifeguarding certification
• Other local or state required certifications
• Comfortable interacting with people of various ages and from diverse backgrounds
• Maintain fitness levels (endurance and strength) to the degree of being able to perform job duties

Hourly Rate: $15.00
