Green Chimneys is happy to welcome Recreation Management Internships!
In this role, interns will work alongside the leadership team in the Recreation Department. Interns will be able to hone skills necessary for working in a treatment setting and recreation field in general. They will have the opportunity to develop their skills through hands-on work with residential and day treatment students at Green Chimneys. Interns will also assist in implementing and scheduling programming. Responsibilities include facilitation of recreational programs, assisting recreation staff with afterschool and evening specialized groups/programs, helping with special events, documentation of assessments, and evaluations.
Interns will be exposed to a wide variety of administrative and hands-on experiences, including, but not limited to: budgeting, staff supervision, hiring, training, program development and implementation, marketing, program evaluation, special events, facility management/supervision, and the opportunity to attend staff and advisory committee meetings.
Interns will set goals and objectives according to their individual needs and resources. Within the internship experience, students must consider the necessary competency requirement for integration of all curricular goals. Each internship strives to integrate curricular goals with personalized needs, so as to create individually relevant professional experiences. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate recreation (or related) degree in order to qualify).
