Broad Responsibilities:

The Per Diem Farm Worker will support all aspects of the farm which includes but is not limited to cleaning animal areas, feeding animals, lawn care (mowing, trimming, weeding), general farm and garden work.  Other day-to-day chores, as needed

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow the direction of the Farm Program Manager and Area Supervisors to complete daily farm and garden chores list
• Assist with activities wherever the need may arise
• Assist in maintaining the farm and garden
• Communicates openly with the Farm Program Manager and all farm staff
• Helps to keep tools operational, cleans sheds and other areas when needed

ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIPS:

The position of Per Diem Farm Worker reports to the Farm Program Manager but is accountable to Farm Director and all area supervisor

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Works cooperatively with others as necessary

SCHEDULE: As needed 7:30am – 3:30pm

  • Must have the mobility to perform the essential duties of the position
  • In order to perform the essential duties of the job, the incumbent must be able to speak, hear and see
  • Must have the ability to work long hours outdoors, in a hectic environment, often under stress in all types of weather
  • Must be able to lift and carry fifty pound
    
    
• Satisfactorily fulfill requirements for employment at Green Chimneys, background screening, references, documentation of education, compliance with NYS Social Service Law. Education/Experience. Strong background in farming, garden work and/or manual labor. Able to use a lawn mower, weed wacker, power washer, snow blower and operate other small garden machinery.
