The Cook will assist in the preparation and service of meals and the maintenance of a clean kitchen at all times. Responsibilities include: portioning and serving meals, and assigning/supervising cleaning tasks in the absence of the Food Services Supervisor, cooking and cleaning. Qualified applicants must have experience in cooking and a demonstrated ability to handle daily administration of food services. 

A minimum of two years’ experience cooking in a restaurant or similar environment is required. Familiarity with NYS and ACA regulations regarding Food Service is a plus. Sanitation & Food Handler’s certificates preferred; if the applicant does not possess these certifications, the ability to obtain them within the first year of employment is required.

Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance):

• In order to perform the essential duties of the job, the incumbent must be able to speak, hear and see.
• Must have the ability to work within a time schedule to meet the needs of mealtime.
• Considerable physical activity. Will require handling of objects (food and catering items) that can weigh up to 50 lbs., including but not necessarily limited to dishes, trays, pots, etc.
• Will require the ability to lift, kneel, lean, crouch, sit, walk and stand for extended periods.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks associated with working in a commercial kitchen and requires following basic safety precautions.
• Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements possibly found in a commercial kitchen, such as but not necessarily limited to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises

The rate for this role is $20.00 to $21.00 per hour based on experience.

This is a full time benefit eligible position.
