Maintenance Worker

Role Overview: Green Chimneys is a multi-faceted nonprofit organization helping young people to maximize their full potential. Green Chimneys is home to over 300 farm animals, horses and unreleasable wildlife. Within this setting, the Maintenance department is hiring for full-time and per diem roles. The Maintenance Worker maintains a safe and clean work area, works cooperatively with all departments, may be asked to supervise and work with residential students or other employees, assists with snow removal, material pickups and other requests as needed. Must have ability to work independently as well as knowledge of any of these skills: electric, plumbing, drywall repair, masonry work, carpentry and grounds keeping. This position includes a schedule of Tuesday through Saturday. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repairs, installs, replaces electric equipment and fixtures
  • Inspects and tests electric lighting
  • Inspects, installs, repairs, and replaces pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures
  • Repairs sprinkler lines and septic lines
  • Performs a variety of duties in and around buildings and grounds
  • Sheetrock and drywall repair
  • Light masonry work
  • Minor repairs to maintenance vehicles and grounds-keeping equipment
  • Gases up agency vehicles, as requested
  • Assists other maintenance staff, as needed
  • Perform work assignments as directed by immediate supervisor
This is a full time benefit eligible position.

The rate for this position is $16.50-22.00 per hour DOE Levels I-III based on aptitudes

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Satisfactorily meets the requirements for employment at Green Chimneys (reference checks, DMV reference check, SCR, drug screen, and Agency drive course)

  Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or Trade /Vocational school graduate
  • Experience and skills in electric, plumbing, carpentry, drywall repair, masonry work and grounds keeping
  • Valid Driver’s license ( As required in Agency Driving Procedures)
  • Satisfactory completion of agency requirements (reference checks, DMV reference check, SCR, drug screening, and agency driver course)
  Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance)
  • In order to perform the essential duties of the job, the incumbent must be able to speak, hear and see.
  • Must have the ability to work long hours, in a hectic environment, often under pressure.
  • Walking, climbing, standing, stooping, kneeling, sitting, reaching, lifting (maximum of 30lbs.) carrying, pushing etc.
  • Must be capable of withstanding all aspects of weather related conditions
