Per Diem Nature's Nursery- Teacher Assistant

The Nature’s Nursery Preschool curriculum models the New York State Pre-Kindergarten Standards that provide the framework for the learning and development of the whole child. This framework is aligned with the existing K-12 learning standards.

Within this setting, the Teacher Assistant – Nature’s Nursery is responsible for active participation and planning of activities for the children in our care.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Following the direction of the group leaders in planning, preparing and implementing activities for all or part of the group.
  • Actively participate with the children in all activities including farm, wildlife, swimming, horse barn and other areas of the Green Chimneys campus.
  • Actively participate and supervise the children at all times, demonstrate the ability to make good decisions in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures and those of OCFS.
    • Assist the director and other staff members to maintain proper coverage, working overtime if necessary.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide care for the children and the school environment
  • Keep the environment neat, clean, safe and healthy.
  • Maintain and request supplies, as needed. 
  • Report all maintenance requests to the Department Director. 
  • Assist with special projects or assignments as requested by the Director and other teaching staff.
  • Copy and distribute Incident Reports

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

Candidates with childcare experience preferred.

Rate of pay for this role is $16.00 per hour working only on weekdays.
This is a per diem role (as needed) and is not benefit eligible.
