Literacy specialist

The Literacy Specialist is responsible for providing one to one reading remediation services to students as part of tier three interventions in reading as well as assist teachers so that appropriate evidenced-based strategies are employed in order for students to achieve literacy. The program is looking for a specialist that can commit to three days a week (24 hours total).

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s in Literacy or Special Education preferred

  • Prior field placement in special education preferred

 

Licensure/Certification:

  • NYSED Certification in appropriate area

  • Secondary certification in the Orton-Gillingham approach or other similar phonics programs such as REWARDs and/or Wilson Reading OR in the process of obtaining such certifications

 

The pay rate for this role is $250.00- $264.28 per day depending on education and experience.
