Green Chimneys School offers an enriched academic environment with a vast array of innovative programming, including life skills, music and art, therapeutic animal-assisted activities, and outdoor education, all based in experiential learning. The fully integrated approach to education at Green Chimneys includes: Academics, Therapeutic Education, Clinical & Related Services, Animal & Nature Program and Vocational Education. Our Teacher Assistants provides a structured learning experience and atmosphere in the classrooms assigned. He/she will assist the classroom teacher and will supervise the children in the class throughout the entire school day. Specific duties and responsibilities will vary depending on the subject matter the Teacher Assistant will be placed in.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for tutoring in classes as assigned – arrange subjects, materials and schedules with classroom teacher(s)
  • Responsible for supervising children in classroom and during other activities and program classes
  • Responsible to assist classroom teacher(s)
  • Responsible to assist in securing classroom supplies
  • Responsible to write anecdotal, incident, tutoring and other reports as necessary
  • Responsible to perform other duties as may be worked out with the classroom teacher(s) and Principal/Administrators
  • Responsible to perform administrative tasks such as copying, notetaking, responding and sending emails, and other tasks as assigned
  • Cover class in absence of teacher
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as directed by the classroom teacher

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Special Education or CTA Credential; or
  • High School with education experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain TA Certification within six months of employment. Will also consider candidates without Teacher's Assistant Certification as Teacher's Aides.

This is a full time, benefit eligible position.

Hourly rate of pay is $16.01-$20.01 DOE
